![]() They avoid a lot of the 'reliability' problems by this strategy. New hardware is genuinely plug and play, for Mac's you have to make sure hardware is compatable (and usually carries a price premium) particularly for 64bit. I can't remember the last time any of my PC's crashed since using XP and currently Windows 7 certainly not since I started building my own, though I would agree that Vista was a load of rubbish. He will make you a PC that will knock the pants of any Mac performance wise for around £500.00 which is less than an Apple higher end graphics card which you would need to fit to come close to the performance of one of his machines! Ding Dong Dell's and other 'box shifters'.įor the last 10 years I've either assembled my own or used a local chap who knows a lot more than I do. Innovative software is always written for PC's first, there is more freeware around, PC users had Photomatix Pro for 5 years before a Mac version came out.Ī lot of the bad press PC's (and Microsoft) receive is due to machines being made down to a price for a mass market with cheap hardware and sold on the High Street with high profit margins or sold directly e.g. Then there is AV's, my favourite program for this is Pictures to Exe, as yet no Mac support though that may change later this year (mind you they said that last year). I could also use Registax which is free, no Mac version available, though that's more for Astro photography. OK my requirement may be rather specialised in that among other things I program PIC's (Not pictures - micro computers made by Microchip) there is no compiler software available for Macs.Ĭurrently I'm playing with stacking software using Helicon Lite, there is a Mac version, but you have to use the Pro 64bit to get it which is £100.00 more expensive. I do have a couple of Mac's which never see the light of day mainly due to limited software available and their annoying habit of reverting back to generic hardware drivers. Rob, I regularly update as new updates become available. No way, no how:-))) Printing borderless, like a good un now. Screwdriver, LOL easier to print.maybe, but after years of spending more time getting my PC to just work, amid the crashes and reboots, I'm not going back. Problem is now solved and the thread can be closed with my thanks to all those who took the trouble to reply.Ĭall me a cynic but maybe the manufacturers want you to waste paper and ink.Īlan a new snow leopard update came out about a week ago have you put that update on? Might be a case of RTFM on my part, but why can't the manufacturers make it easy for us? Go to CS >File>Page Setup>Paper Size>Select A4 Sheet Feeder Borderless paper 'Borederless Paper!!!! Isn't all photographic paper borderless? - Jeeeez! Then make sure 'No Border is selected in the printer preferences option and away you go. Of course, you now say - the obvious place to look. The answer to the borderless print problem is to be found in the page setup. But when your asked for a rush job and can't say no, what can you do. Those nice people at Loxley do a much better job than I do anyway. I have found the solution - My own fault, perhaps, for not printing as much as I should myself. STU if you are out there, do you still have your R1800 and have you achieved borderless printing on it? Is anyone using an R1800 with Snow Leopard and getting borderless prints. Rob - I have updated to the latest drivers for Snow Leopard from Epson and they claim to have resolved a lot of these issues. At least it used to be able to on a PC before I changed over to Mac. Īusten - Yes the R1800 can do borderless in all sizes. Be very wary of updating to snow leopard as Epson has no plan to update a lot of the older printers. ![]() I've had a lot of issues and poorly described updates that have effected printing. It's common that when the operating system is updated that printing goes wrong with OS X. I ask as my Epson R390 CAN do A4 border-less, but the SMALLER 8 * 10 size, it CANNOT do border-less !!! I dunno at all.But are you sure your printer can do A4 border-less ? ![]() Thank you for your suggestion, nonetheless. I have tried all permutations, scale to fit etc, and am still unable to obtain borderless printing. Even if you use scale to fit you will probably still get white borders if it isn’t I would assume you would get white borders. Kelvin-Hughes edited this topic ages ago. Please, please, please tell me.Where am I going wrong? Aaaaaargh! I know that there must be someone in the group with an R1800 on the Mac platform. Whatever settings I use:- The correct printer, page size, paper, 'No Border' selected, the latest printer drivers etc, etc, the printed image comes out with a white border. I'm tearing my hair out tonight trying to get my Epson R1800 to print a borderless print at A4 size in Photoshop CS4 on a Mac.
